Reception June 14 at 6pm
Description:
Karen Luke Fildes, an oil painter Tacoma-born, has settled in Seattle after a 4 year pilgrimage to find the luxurious comfort in bare essentials. 12 new tone poems of color on Northwest landscape will be showing at Lombardi's in Ballard, 2200 NW Market Street, from Saturday, June 14th through mid July. Meet the artist at her reception and view paintings on the Ballard artwalk on June 14th.
She leads "color meditation" palette classes in students' homes throughout Washington State and will be leading a one week juicy oil's retreat (without any airborne toxins) at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center from August 4 through August 8th.
Karen is currently busy painting commissioned works for clients in love with Northwest color.
Workshops: "Creative Inking" for Teens
A hands on journey through the history of the pen at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center, 4272 Fremont Avenue N, Seattle, WA 98103
on Wednesdays from 3 - 5pm beginning on June 18th. class is $30 and scholarships are available.
It's about finding the drawing instrument that sings for you:
Students will explore the history of the pen from quill to Sharpie. Learn the art of inking; from the rolling ball to sumi brush, from the quill to the fountain. Whether drawing the pear or the figure in movement, expose your inner self to the tools and techniques it takes to create satisfying images. You will explore your drawing personality and develop a relaxed confidence as an artist. Each session is the building block on the previous, and each retreat will focus on capturing images, practicing the "Living Doodle" and applying excercises to personal projects. Her teaching mission is to see students find visionary focus and express an authentic voice through their own artistic process.
