Things are happening in the studio... I feel like change has taken shape. The changes in our world right now, changes in our styles of connecting, change for our loved ones, new losses, new births, and even some changes to our views of politics and faith.
There will always be change- but to observe the shift from one season to the next is balm- is consolation- when viewed with honesty and grace. At least for me it is. "Liken to Console" is my way to accept the shifts with grace, and to sort them out by finding passages. Heightened contrast, lower light, longer shadows, pure colors flashing their last hurrah before the jewels of brightness let go to silver- winter...
When all of nature let's go, there's wind, chaos, holding on for dear life. But then, with grace, we let it all go. And open up to trust the seasons. Every year we face the changes, but there is consolation in the promise that the seeds that were flown about will fall- die- rest and gestate under mulch and darkened dung.
That's we stop to listen... A good long while. It takes some letting go to really listen. it takes some honesty to witness the truth of change, and be graceful enough to celebrate.
That's what's happening in the studio.
